Two Norwegian members of parliament, one from the Conservative Party, the other from the Radical Left, saw their nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize get the award. The health of the world's environment in general and climate in particular is more or less officially a matter of world peace.
I haven't read the nomination or the award release yet, but there's more to this than most people realize. Climatic upheaval and resource shortfalls cause wars. Some people think Iran's belligerency is a result of dwindling oil supplies; fresh water supply is explicitly a casus belli, etc. The more radical the shifts, the worse it's going to get.
